As mentioned, the first stages of painting leaves areas to be tweeked. Paintings reach a point when another stroke can reverse appeal. Over painting a scene is an unfortunate part of art practice. An artist can ask him/herself: am I painting to perfect the magic or am I painting to perfect the image?
